David Paine was born 27 Jul 1808 in Kent, England (record 1). Evidence on his family suggests that he was born at Biddenden, Kent (see next discussion under Family).

Family

His mother was Sarah Paine (record 1). Public Member Trees on Ancestry.com show his father as Samuel Paine and his mother as Sarah Cook, but without documentation. However, a Samuel Paine and Sarah Cook married 16 Dec 1793 at Biddenden, Kent, England [Mid-Kent Marriage Index, 1754-1911, http://woodchurchancestry.org.uk/midkentmarriages/index.php]. David's sister Mary, the oldest child, was born 3 Jun 1795 (record 1). David Paine, tailor, lived in Sevenoaks, Kent, at the time of the 1841 Census (record 3). A Zachariah Paine, tailor, age 36, born at Biddenden, resided at Sevenoaks, Kent at the time of the 1851 Census; this probably was David Paine's brother who was born in 1816 (record 1). David's brother Elisha was born in 1811 (record 1); an Elisha Paine, age 50, born at Biddenden, resided at Headcorn, Kent, at the time of the 1861 Census.
